First Day of Kindergarten at Summit School, Upper Ojai

Mitchell up earlier than normal, sharpening a pencil. Looking a little bit sleepy.

Funny Face, all dressed and ready to go. He picked his outfit, and the photo place "in front of mommy's garden". Then he made the funny face.

Watch Out Summit School ! Mr. Mischief is coming your way.

Here we go... yep we are a bit political this year. :)

Summit School Playground, with a view of the Topa Topa Mountains (I think:).

More of Summit School. It is a lovely little PUBLIC school in upper Ojai. It only has 3 classrooms, and about 65 students. Mitchell's class is a combo kingergarten and first grade, then there's a combo 2nd & 3rd grade, and a combo 4,5, 6. Most kids that attend come from families who have been attending this school for a long time. We are very lucky to have gotten in when we did, because 3 weeks after I enrolled Mitchell Ojai Unified School District changed their "open enrollment" status to require their superintendent to approve all transfers from out of district. Mitchell is now in the district for as long as we want him to stay there.

Mitchell quickly found his desk, sitting between Matthew and Dillon. And he was very pleased to see that he got a little box of legos on his desk. What school gives the kids legos? Our super cool school does! Mitchell was good to go after that...

Here he is with another funny face, he's actually doing what the teacher asked, and blowing kisses and waving good bye to the lingering parents. That's his teacher Ms. Turpin on the left.
and on the drive home he said "Mom I love my teacher and.... I'm pooped".
He fell asleep a few minutes later.
